Don’t mistake “Style Savvy: Fashion Forward” for mere shovelware, dahling. This game is dedicated to serving up the fashionista lifestyle with solid production and oodles of content for. Nintendo just announced that 3DS title Style Savvy: Fashion Forward, the third game in the Style Savvy series, will be out in North America on August 19 and Disney Magical World 2 will hit the 3DS.
Parents need to know that Style Savvy: Fashion Forward is a Nintendo 3DS simulation that has you take on various roles: boutique manager, designer, hair stylist, makeup artist, and model. There isn't any controversial content, though some parents may feel the 'digital dress up' elements and makeup aren't setting the bar high for young girls - not to mention how thin the models are in the game - but the game also encourages them to be smart in business.
It works with optional amiibo cards and characters to unlock character-specific outfits, and players can download a Style Savvy theme for their 3DS for real cash. Parents should be aware that user-created items can be shared with others by StreetPass. In STYLE SAVVY: FASHION FORWARD, you live and work in the fictional Beaumonde City. Here, you'll schmooze with the locals to build relationships, find out the styles they love, work your way up as a designer, design a showroom of your work, and, if you like, even visit friends' games over the internet to engage in fashion contests.
You can play this fashion-focused game in multiple ways, such as designing clothes, becoming a top model, styling hair, excelling as a makeup artist, or managing your own boutique with almost 20,000 articles of clothing and accessories. You can play these kinds of mini-games individually or play them all simultaneously. While this fashion-forward title does give kids (and adults) a glimpse of the industry, it doesn't really expand or improve on the formula of the franchise.
For example, the game's magical premise is silly, as your character is mystically transported into Beaumonde City, where you grow your business as a shop owner, stylist, and fashionista. You'll get more people into your store, help customers achieve their best, turn a profit, design clothes, and compete against others in your space.
Similar to games like Animal Crossing, this game offers a real-time clock, which adds welcome urgency to your tasks - even necessary ones like eating and sleeping. Along with the photo shoots and fashion shows, gamers might also like sharing their work (and dollhouses) via the StreetPass feature, along with competing in online Miiverse contests, swapping designs with friends. It's not all good: Many of the tasks are repetitive, and there's little replayability (even with the many thousands of items). The girl models often act ditzy and look very thin, so they aren't great role models (thankfully, your character is). Plus, this game is clearly a port of the U.K. Version, with no North American localization. Overall, fans of the franchise should enjoy this third game in the series, but it doesn't do much to push the series forward.
There are a large number of hairstyles on offer in Style Boutique ranging from short styles to updos such as pigtails or cat ears. Some hairstyles are available straight away and most must be unlocked. To unlock new styles, you must use certain styles multiple times. For example to unlock the volumised side ponytail, you must use the side ponytail styles multiple times on customers that visit the hair salon. Some styles can only be unlocked by talking to certain NPC's around the city.
These NPC's are Callie and her family in disguise and they provide you with special styles such as the Cat Ears or Sausage Curls. It can take some time to unlock all the styles. A good trick is to focus on giving customers to style you need to use to unlock the next one. All my customers for about an hour got side ponytails because I was trying to unlock all the side ponytails. The hairstyles are divided into the following categories in the game.Short = 12 styles.Bob = 6 styles.Medium = 7 styles.Long = 8 styles.Updo = 35 styles.Fringes = 25 styles. Some hair styles do not have a fringe option and the styles in the Bob category also fall under the short and medium categories. The pictures below show what each hairstyle looks like and all hairstyles (excluding fringes) were styled using the swept back fringe option. All hairstyles shown in this guide have Champagne as the main hair colour and Walnut as the highlight.

Just been looking through this guide and realised I unlocked the High Plaited Pogtails in the Salon too; I’ve never even seen anyone resembling Ellie until I used this style with the Choppy Short Fringe. It looked hideous but I loved it and got to correct that a bit later on. I think that that one is probably the only style that has that level of flexibilty, with Ellie maybe showin up if you haven’t unlocked it at the Salon after so long because the order is random and depends on what styles you use for each customer and their requests.
